John Herd has been a board member since 2011. In 2013 he became involved in the management of the Parent and Community Engagement (PaCE) project across six communities in the Northern Territory. Currently, John is working on an extension of that project to establish the Remote Indigenous Parents Association in remote communities where large numbers of children go away to board.
He has spent the past 15 years working in and with a variety of boarding residences, commencing at Boystown, Beaudesert (QLD), followed by The Kooralbyn International School (QLD) and then Head of Boarding at St Johns College, Darwin. He has also worked in other boarding services across Queensland and Western Australia.
John was part of the Working Group that developed National Standards for Boarding Student Accommodation (2012) and runs his own consultancy business called Boarding Solutions.
