Over the past couple of months, I have continued to keep an eye on the proceedings of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. I was also recently involved in a SA Government Inquiry with a similar focus on the well being and safety of children living in the care of others.
The Royal Commission prompts us all to think about how we can deliver ‘child safe’ boarding services, as well as considering the policies and processes we have in place to prevent, report, respond to and follow up on instances of abuse. The Royal Commission’s implication for boarding have the potential to be wide-reaching. I encourage members to subscribe to the Royal Commission news feed, which provides updates on proceedings and findings.
