Boarding Australia is active on many fronts raising awareness of the needs and rights of boarding students, staff and families. The Royal Commission, Abstudy and the Senate Inquiry into educational opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students are all areas to which Boarding Australia is contributing. As we near the end of another school year, I would like to acknowledge the hard work of all boarding staff. It can be a long year for staff and students alike! From a Boarding Australia perspective, I am enthusiastic about 2016, with a new and improved website, continued involvement in strategic projects, the delivery of education and resources and a focus on ways to assist members in the quality improvement endeavours.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge the new direction of Boarding Australia, as it seeks to become a Company Limited by Guarantee. On the surface, this may seem somewhat trivial, but the Board and members voted at a Special General Meeting on the 23 October 2015 and approved to amend the current organisational structure to meet our current needs and future aspirations as a member-focused peak body with a truly national focus.
